Itinerary
Check-In and Equipment Setup · Duration: 15 Minutes
Arrive at Silfra 15 minutes before your tour begins to meet your guide and group. You'll receive a dry suit, warm undersuit, and diving gear. Change your gear in a heated van with your guide's assistance for added comfort.
Safety Briefing and Information · Duration: 1 Hour
Your guide will provide a detailed safety briefing and explain the significance of Silfra, including its unique location between tectonic plates. You will also learn about the geological features of Thingvellir National Park and how to enjoy the dive safely. This session includes final gear adjustments and ensures everyone is prepared.
Dive at Silfra · Duration: 3-Minute Walk + 30 Minutes Diving
Take a short 3-minute walk to the dive entry point. Enjoy a 30-minute dive exploring Silfra’s stunning underwater sections: the Big Crack, the Hall, the Cathedral, and the Lagoon. Experience the full spectrum of Silfra’s colors and clarity, capturing the magic of this underwater world.
Warm-Up and Debrief · Duration: 15-20 Minutes
After your dive, warm up with hot cocoa and cookies. Chat with your guide about the dive, ask questions, and review photos from the tour. Reflect on your unique underwater adventure before heading back to your hotel.
Important Information
- You should bring long underwear, thick socks, suitable clothes for the day's weather, and contact lenses or your own prescription mask.
- Wear your own thermal undergarment if you prefer.
- Know how to swim and have a valid diving certification from an internationally recognized dive organization.
- Please note that the minimum age for this tour is 18, and the maximum group size is four people.

Know before you go
- Be a certified diver at the PADI Open Water Diver level or equivalent.
- Have dry suit diving certification and a logged dry suit dive within two years of the Silfra tour date OR have at least ten logged dry suit dives within two years of the Silfra tour date with written proof from a diving instructor.
- Read, sign, and follow directions on the online Diving Silfra Medical Statement.
- Have the Diving Medical form signed off by a doctor if they are 60 or older.
- Sign the liability release form at the start of the Silfra dive tour.
- Be at least 150 cm/maximum 200cm in height.
- Be at a minimum of 45 kg/maximum of 120kg in weight.
- Fit within the dry suit size chart.
- Be at least 17 years of age (signature of legal guardian required for participants under 18).
- Be physically fit.
- Be able to communicate in English.
- Be ready to wear a sometimes tight and constricting dry suit.
- Not be pregnant.
- Eat well before the tour.

Q: Will I need to have previous diving experience?
Ans: Yes, this tour is suitable for certified divers at the PADI Open Water Diver level or equivalent. Additionally, you must have drysuit diving certification and a logged dry suit dive within two years of the Silfra tour date. If not, you must provide written proof from a diving instructor showing that you have completed at least ten dry-suit dives within two years.
Q: Do I need to bring my own diving gear?
Ans: No, all necessary diving gear will be provided on the tour.
Q: Is there an age limit for this tour?
Ans: Yes, participants must be at least 17 years of age. If under 18, a signature from a legal guardian is required. Additionally, participants must meet certain height and weight requirements to ensure they fit comfortably in the drysuit provided.
Q: Is it safe to dive in Silfra?
Ans: Safety is our top priority, and all divers must always follow the guide’s instructions. Our experienced guides will provide a detailed safety briefing before the tour and are trained to handle any potential risks or emergencies that may arise during the dive.

Q: What happens if I need to cancel my tour?
Ans: Cancellations made more than 24 hours before the tour start time will receive a full refund. Cancellations made within 24 hours of the tour start time will not be refunded. However, we understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise, so please contact us as soon as possible if you need to cancel your tour.
