Overview
Join Norðurflug Helicopter Tours for an amazing flight over Iceland’s volcanic landscapes. After meeting your friendly pilot at Reykjavik Domestic Airport and going through a short safety briefing, you’ll hop into a comfortable helicopter and set off on a 35-minute journey. You’ll fly in either an AS350 B2 Ecureuil or an Airbus EC130, both offering great views for all passengers.
Even though the eruption is no longer active, the site is still incredibly beautiful from the air. You’ll see the dramatic shapes, colors, and textures left by the lava, creating a truly unforgettable scene. This flight gives you a rare chance to admire Iceland’s raw nature from above and capture stunning photos to remember the moment.

Itinerary
Arrival and Meet the Pilot · Duration: 15 minutes
Arrive at Norðurflug Helicopter Tours, located on the east side of Reykjavik Domestic Airport at Nauthólsvegur 58d. You will be welcomed by your pilot, who will give you a brief overview of the flight and important safety instructions before boarding.
Departure and Takeoff · Duration: 5 minutes
Board the helicopter and get comfortable as the adventure begins. Take off smoothly into the Icelandic skies, heading toward the volcanic eruption site.
Scenic Flight Over Volcanic Landscape · Duration: 20 minutes
Fly over the dramatic and beautiful volcanic areas shaped by past eruptions. Enjoy breathtaking views of lava fields, craters, and rugged terrain from a unique aerial perspective. Your pilot will guide you along the way, pointing out the key sights.
Return and End of Tour · Duration: 5 minutes
After the panoramic flight, return safely to the aerodrome. The experience ends back at Norðurflug’s base, where you can take a few final photos and reflect on an unforgettable adventure.
