Itinerary
Arrival and Check-In · Duration: 15 Minutes
Arrive at Silfra meeting point in Thingvellir National Park. Meet your guide and receive your diving equipment. Change into your gear inside a heated changing van for comfort.
Safety Briefing and Dive Preparation · Duration: 1 Hour
Receive a detailed briefing on the dive and the Silfra environment. Learn about the geological significance of Silfra and Davíðsgjá. Ensure final gear adjustments and address any questions.
First Dive: Silfra · Duration: 30-45 Minutes Diving
Walk for 3 minutes to the entry platform. Dive through the four parts of Silfra: the Big Crack, the Hall, the Cathedral, and the Lagoon. Experience unparalleled visibility and stunning underwater scenery.
Warm-Up and Refreshments · Duration: 15-20 Minutes
Return to the meeting point and remove your gear. Warm up with hot chocolate and cookies provided by your guide. Discuss the dive with your guide and review photos from the tour.
Second Dive: Davíðsgjá · Duration: 1 Hour
Travel to Davíðsgjá for the second dive. Enter the water from the shore and swim through the shallow areas. Explore the long, deep, narrow fissure, often accompanied by trout.
Post-Dive and Departure · Duration: Variable
Wrap up your diving experience and debrief with your guide. Reflect on the dive and ask any remaining questions. You can also continue your journey on the Golden Circle route to visit nearby attractions like Gullfoss waterfall, Geysir hot spring, and Kerið crater.

Know before you go
- Must be a certified diver at the PADI Open Water Diver level or equivalent.
- Must have dry suit diving certification and a logged dry suit dive within two years of the Silfra tour date, OR have at least ten logged dry suit dives within two years of the Silfra tour date and be able to provide written proof from a diving instructor.
- Read, sign, and follow directions on the online Diving Silfra Medical Statement.
- We must have our Diving Medical form signed off by a doctor if we are 60 or older.
- You must sign our liability release form at the start of the Silfra dive tour.
- Must be at least 150cm and no more than 200cm tall.
- Must weigh at least 45kg and no more than 120kg.
- It must fit within our dry suit size chart.
- Must be at least 17 (signature of legal guardian required for participants under 18).
- Must be physically fit.
- Must be able to communicate in English.
- You must be ready to wear a sometimes tight and constricting dry suit.
- You must not be pregnant.
- You must eat well before the tour

Q: I am not certified to dive. Can I still participate in this tour?
Ans: Unfortunately, this tour is only available for certified divers. To get certified, look into our PADI Open Water Diver course.
Q: Do I need to have previous diving experience to join this tour?
Ans: While it's recommended that participants have some diving experience, the Silfra & Davíðsgjá Buddy Tour is suitable for both novice and experienced divers. Our knowledgeable guide will provide a thorough safety briefing and assist you throughout the entire dive.
Q: Can I bring my own diving equipment?
Ans: Yes, you can bring your diving equipment. However, we do provide all the necessary diving equipment for your convenience.
Q: What type of dry suit certification do I need for this tour?
Ans: You must have a dry suit diving certification or at least ten logged dry suit dives within two years of the tour date OR is able to provide written proof from a diving instructor.
Q: Is there an age restriction for this tour?
Ans: Yes, participants must be at least 17 years old, and those under 18 must have a legal guardian's signature. There is no maximum age limit as long as you are physically fit and meet all other requirements.
Q: Can I choose my own start time for the tour?
Ans: Yes, this tour is available by request and can be tailored to accommodate different start times. Please indicate your preferred start time when booking.
Q: Is transportation from Reykjavik included in the tour?
Ans: No, transportation from Reykjavik is not included in the tour price. However, pickup options are available upon request at an additional cost.
