As we reach the volcano area, you’ll walk through a dramatic landscape shaped by fire and earth. This is your chance to capture stunning photos and take in the power of this volcanic land. To make the journey even sweeter, we’ll stop for a fun chocolate break and enjoy HRAUN — a local treat whose name means “lava” in Icelandic.

Hotel Pick-Up in Reykjavik
Your journey begins with a convenient pick-up from your selected hotel or bus stop in Reykjavik. Once everyone is on board, we’ll set off toward the breathtaking Reykjanes peninsula, home to incredible volcanic landscapes and ancient lava fields.

As we travel, you’ll pass through dramatic scenery shaped by centuries of volcanic activity. Your guide will share stories about Iceland’s fiery past, giving you a deeper understanding of the land’s unique character.

We’ll reach Sundhnúkar, where you can walk around the volcanic area and take in the impressive sights. Even though the eruption has paused, the landscape is raw, powerful, and unforgettable.

We’ll take a short rest surrounded by incredible views of the volcanic terrain. This is the perfect moment to enjoy a piece of local Hraun chocolate and soak up the peaceful but mighty atmosphere.

Do I need to be physically fit to join the tour?
The walk is short and not physically demanding. We only go to areas cleared and deemed safe by local authorities. As long as you can walk on uneven ground for a short distance, you should be able to enjoy the tour comfortably.
Will I see an active eruption?
Currently, the volcano is not erupting, but the area remains a fascinating and dramatic natural landscape. If activity resumes, your guide will provide updates and lead you to the safest viewing spots allowed by authorities.
What happens if I miss my pick-up?
If you miss your pick-up time or do not provide your location at least 24 hours before the tour, we unfortunately cannot guarantee participation. Please double-check your booking details and be on time at the designated location.
Can children join the tour?
Yes, children can join, but parents or guardians should make sure they are dressed warmly and prepared for outdoor walking. The terrain may be uneven, so close supervision is necessary.
Is the tour safe?
Yes, safety is our top priority. We follow the guidance of local authorities and the Icelandic Rescue Teams. We only enter areas considered safe, and your guide will inform you of any safety measures regarding volcanic air or terrain conditions.
