Arrival & Check-In

Arrive at the Sólheimajökull glacier parking lot, where your guide will welcome you. You'll check in, get a quick overview of the hike, and begin gearing up with glacier equipment including crampons, helmet, and an ice axe. Your guide will make sure you're fully prepared and comfortable before heading onto the ice.

Safety Briefing & Gear Instructions

Before stepping onto the glacier, your guide will explain how to use the gear properly and go over important safety tips. This includes walking techniques on ice and how to stay safe around crevasses and other features.

Glacier Hike Adventure

  • Duration: 1.5–2 hours

Begin your hike across the ever-changing landscape of Sólheimajökull. Along the way, your guide will point out fascinating ice formations, deep crevasses, and moulins (ice holes), while sharing insights into how glaciers are formed and shaped by nature. Enjoy the peaceful surroundings and incredible views of the icy terrain.

Photo Stops & Exploration

  • Duration: 20–30 minutes

There will be plenty of opportunities to stop for photos and take in the glacier's stunning features. Your guide will lead you to some of the most scenic spots for unforgettable pictures and a moment to simply appreciate the raw beauty around you.

Return to Base

  • Duration: 15–20 minutes

Wrap up the hike and make your way back to the meeting point. Once off the glacier, remove your gear and say farewell to your guide. This marks the end of your incredible glacier adventure.
