You’ll be picked up in Reykjavík and travel along the scenic South Coast in a small group with a friendly guide. On the way, you’ll stop at breathtaking natural spots like Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls, as well as the dramatic Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach. In the town of Vík í Mýrdal, you’ll switch to a super-jeep for an exciting ride over rugged landscapes to reach the magical Katla Ice Cave. Your day begins with a comfortable pick-up from your selected stop in Reykjavík. Our team will collect guests from approved locations to ensure a smooth and timely departure. Just choose your pick-up point during booking and share it at least 24 hours before your tour.

Visit Seljalandsfoss Waterfall

- Pick-up is not available from Keflavík International Airport or outside the capital area
- For safety and comfort reasons, the tour is not suitable for those 7 months pregnant or more
Good to know
Do I need any special equipment to join the tour?
All glacier gear required for entering the ice cave is included in the tour. This typically covers helmets, crampons, and safety equipment. However, you should wear warm, waterproof layers and sturdy hiking boots. If you don’t have proper boots, you can rent them during the booking process.
How difficult is the tour?
The activity level is easy to moderate. While the glacier guides make sure everything is safe, there is some walking on uneven surfaces. Most people with normal fitness levels can comfortably join the tour.
Is food or drink included in the tour?
No, meals and drinks are not included. However, there will be opportunities along the way to buy food, and you are welcome to bring your own snacks and water for the journey.
Can I take photos inside the Katla Ice Cave?
Absolutely! Photography is allowed and highly encouraged. The stunning colors and textures of the ice make for unforgettable pictures. Just make sure to follow the guide’s instructions to keep everyone safe while exploring the cave.
